Q. What are your opening hours, and do they change during the school holidays?

Our standard opening hours are Wednesday to Sunday from 9am - 6pm. This includes our popular late-night openings every Thursday and Friday 7pm until 9pm, which are perfect for adult painters and special evening events.However, we do adjust our schedule to accommodate families when school is out!​During school holidays, we are open seven days a week from 10am to 6pm. Please note that during these busy holiday periods, our Thursday and Friday late-night openings will temporarily take a break so our team can prepare for the daytime fun. We always recommend checking our website or booking online ahead of your holiday visit!

Q. Can I choose any piece of Bisque?

Accepted Answer

Yes you are welcome to come in and select any Bisque from our range, we carry a wide selection.

Q. How long can I keep the Bisque before returning it to the studio for firing?

Accepted Answer

There is no limit but we recommend you return the item to be fired within seven days in order to keep the colour brilliance representing the pure, unfading vividness of a pigment.

Q. How does my item become shiny like the studio examples?

Accepted Answer

When you return your creation we will glaze and fire your item for you. This creates a shiny surface and makes your product foodsafe.

Q. Can I put my product in the dishwasher?

Accepted Answer

We do not recommend putting your bespoke product in the dishwasher as this invariably shortens the life of the product.

Q. How do I clean my Bisque once completed?

Accepted Answer

We recommend all Bisque be washed up using household detergent and hot water in the kitchen sink.

Q. How long does it take before I can collect my finished item?

Accepted Answer

Our standard turnaround time is 7 days. During busy periods such as school holidays it could be up to 14 days. However sometimes this may be faster.You will receive an email when your creation is ready. This gives us enough time to glaze your piece, let it dry completely, and carefully load and unload the kiln, which undergoes a firing and cooling cycle that takes over 24 hours.

Q. What happens if I make a mistake while painting?

Accepted Answer

Don't worry at all! Because our underglaze paints are water-based, mistakes are incredibly easy to fix. If you make an error, you can simply wipe it away with a damp sponge, or let it dry and gently scratch it off before painting over the area.

Q. How many coats of paint should I apply when painting my Bisque?

Accepted Answer

For a bright, solid block of colour, we recommend applying three coats of paint, allowing each layer to chalk over (dry) before adding the next.1 coat will look translucent and sketchy.2 coats will give a lighter, watercoloured effect.3/4 coats will give you a solid, opaque finish.​

Q. Are the paints safe for children, and will they stain clothes?

Yes, all of our paints are completely non-toxic, lead-free, and water-soluble. They wash out of clothing and off skin perfectly with just standard water or a normal machine cycle, making it a stress-free activity for painters of all ages.

Q. Do you provide aprons for customer use?

Yes adult and children’s aprons can be provided if required at no extra cost.​

Q. Can we capture our baby or child's hand and footprints on the pottery?

Accepted Answer

Yes, this is a wonderful way to create a lasting keepsake! Our experienced studio team is always on hand to help you capture the perfect print, as we know it can sometimes be a two-person job with wriggly little ones. All of our paints are non-toxic, skin-safe, and wash off easily with water. Prints can be done on a wide variety of bisque, including plates, mugs, tiles, and photo frames. We can also help add finishing touches, such as lettering for names and dates, to make it extra special. Please look for specific baby hand and foot print session times if you require assistance.

Q. Do you host Birthday parties?

Yes, we absolutely do we have our dedicated Party room that can be booked out! Painting pottery is a fantastic, creative activity for all ages. We offer dedicated party packages that include a fun selection of bisque, all the necessary paints, brushes, pallets, sponges, and the final glazing and firing. Our staff will help guide the painters, making it a completely stress-free, mess-free experience for all. Q. Can I put my finished pottery in the microwave?

Accepted Answer

We advise against putting your finished earthenware items in the microwave. The rapid, uneven heating can cause the ceramic to experience thermal shock, which can lead to cracking or "crazing" (fine, spiderweb-like cracks in the shiny glaze) over time.

Q. Do I need to paint the background white if I want it to stay white?

Accepted Answer

No, you don't need to paint any areas white that you want to keep white! The unpainted bisque is already a soft off-white colour. When we dip your piece into our clear glaze and fire it, those unpainted sections will naturally turn into a beautiful, shiny white finish.

Q. I don’t live locally do you offer home delivery.

Yes we can send small items through the post at an additional cost of usually £5 although we do not recommend this for larger pieces as they tend to be more easily damaged.The cost of posting will depend on the size of the object.

We re-use /re-cycle what we can when we can for this purpose.

Q. How can I transport my Bisque home safely if I purchase an ‘Take Home Kit’?

We will wrap it securely and place it in a bag if you are carrying it home or put it in a secure container which can be placed in your car.

Q. Do you charge for the box if I purchase an ‘Take Home Kit’?

Accepted Answer

No but we require a deposit of £10 per kit which will be fully refunded when the take home kit and contents are returned to the studio.

Q. Do you have a licensed bar, or can we bring our own alcohol?

Accepted Answer

We are awaiting our license. We aim to feature an in-house bar that carries a small but perfectly adequate selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages—including wine, beer, and bubbles. It is the ideal addition for adding a little sparkle to your celebrations, hen parties, and our Thursday and Friday adult late nights. Cheers to that!
